Bigger Than Roe

This country is in a state of emergency. Judges are blatantly disregarding the law, science, and the limits of their own authority to dismantle our right to access abortion care. Right-wing legislators across the country are moving beyond gerrymandering and voter suppression to stripping democratically elected officials of their authority, even going so far as expelling their colleagues from the legislative body. Our democracy and our future are no longer simply at risk of being destroyed. This is an SOS: in case of emergency, break the glass.
This past Friday, Judge Matthew Kacsmaryck issued an egregious ruling riddled with right-wing, anti-abortion rhetoric, staying the FDA’S 23 year old approval of mifepristone. We knew he was a politician in a robe, and this opinion all but proved it. We can not and will not stand by as illegitimate courts trample our rights. On this Saturday, which (barring a stay from the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals) will mark the first day mifepristone will become unavailable for most of the US, we will mobilize in solidarity with Amarillo, Texas to let Kacsmaryck and his right wing colleagues know that we are not done fighting.
We will mobilize to let partisan extremists know that we will not let democracy die; we’re not done fighting.
We will mobilize to let authoritarians know that we will not allow protest or freedom of speech to be chilled or killed in our country.
Our fight is bigger than Roe. We are fighting for nothing less than democracy itself.
We are not done fighting. And together, we will win.
We will meet on Legislative Green Park to prep and pep and then march along the streets of downtown Dover. Bring sun protection, water, and signs, and make sure everything you bring fits in a small, manageable bag. We will also bring water and signs to share.
