Bigger Than Roe-Baton Rouge "Rise Up for Roe"

On January 22, 2023, the anniversary of Roe v Wade, as we mourn the loss of nearly 50 years of constitutional protections:

Activist Nancy Davis of the Nancy Davis Foundation and abortion rights activist Stacey Howard of Write for Women's Rights are co-hosting the Bigger Than Roe March in Baton Rouge. Nancy knows first-hand what it's like to live in this post-Roe era. Her fetus was diagnosed with Acrania (non-viable outside the womb), and her hospital denied her a medical abortion. Given no choice by Louisiana but to carry her baby just to bury it, she had to travel thousands of miles to New York to get the care she needed. Stacey and Nancy want to help people from experiencing this trauma and will fight tirelessly for reproductive justice.

We call on local leaders and state legislators to:

1. End abortion bans across the country

2. Stop forced births

3. Put control back in the hands of patients and their doctors

4. Give people with uteruses the same bodily autonomy as men

Join us as we march from Galvez Plaza to the Louisiana State Capitol steps and protest for our rights. The march is approximately one mile, and there is free parking along the Levee at River Road near the Capitol. Speakers include Nancy Davis, Kaitlyn Joshua, Michelle Erenberg from Lift Louisiana, Angela Adkins from 10,000 Women Louisiana, Christian Nunes from NOW, Frankie Robertson from Amandla Group, Meesh Warner from Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, and Louisiana State Representative Mandie Landry.
