Champaign, IL Free America Walkout

At 2pm exercise your power by walking out of your classes, offices and businesses. To feel the unity of the moment, consider joining us for a walk down Parkland Way as we express our collective frustration at the actions of our government.

★ We fight for a future that belongs to us all.★

Meeting Location: The parking lot of Dodds Softball Complex., south of Parkland Way.

Time: Walkout at 2pm and make your way to the Complex’s parking lot

 

What to expect: We will gather in the parking lot, then around 2:20 p.m. we will start our walk down toward Mattis Ave. You can decide to hang out at the corner of Mattis Ave and Parkland Way waving signs and chanting, or head back down with us toward Perimeter Road. The event will end around 3 p.m.

There are no sidewalks along the route but it is walkable. Public Safety has been informed of this event and asks that we respect the roadways and flow of traffic.

If you are unable to walk the route but would like to participate, please consider joining us in the parking lot and creating a caravan or sitting along Parkland Way and joining your voice to the collective as we walk/ride past. 

Signs, musical instruments, and chanting encouraged but not required.

Chanting sheets will be available.

Please dress appropriately for the weather and be careful along all roadways. 

A core principle behind all these events is a commitment to nonviolent action and to help promote a positive experience with advocacy. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values or attempt to provoke a response. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
