POP-UP Street Theatre/Singing/Dancing/Etc. 9 - 9:50 a.m. before Senator Warner's Town Hall Downtown [WAS: Charlottesville VA WE the PEOPLE: Street Theatre and Parade to Redeem our Democracy

TIME AND LOCATION HAS CHANGED!!

Since Senator Mark Warner has now scheduled a Town Hall 10 - noon this Sat. at the Jefferson Theater [see below], (which we’ve been pressing for, want to attend and to urge others to attend to hear  and express concerns), and since we’re also urging people to be at the No Kings Day protest at Stonefield noon- 2:00 [see below]

Instead of our planned street theatre parade 10 - 11:15, we’re going to do a condensed non-parade version of our event from 9  - 9:50, in one place as near to the Jefferson Theater / Central Place as we can get, considering there will probably be increased security presence because of Warner’s event. Participatory singing/music/theatre/dance - puppet-y figure, jesters, etc. - themes of speaking truth and care, strengthening the power of community, wellbeing for all, creativity as fuel for  transformation. Jugglers, hula hoopers, ribbon dancers, etc etc all welcome!! Reach out via RSVP for more info or your inspirations, about this or more events to be dreamed up together in the near future…

Let's bring energy work in our public square!

This description of our original event still applies:

While slashing funding for essential agencies and services (ostensibly to save our country from "waste, fraud, and abuse"), Donald Trump will waste millions of taxpayer dollars on June 14 on a military parade to celebrate his own birthday. Emulating the dictators he admires--Putin and Kim Jong Un--he hopes to subdue us by conveying an image of supreme, uncontestable power.

But here in Charlottesville, we aren't impressed. On that same day, we'll use street theatre with jesters, dance, song, etc. to call out the chaos, cruelty, and greed of the Trump Administration, the cowardice of Republican legislators, and the legal contortions of their Supreme Court enablers, as well as the power that an intentional, compassionate, and joyful community has to support one another, resist tyranny, and redeem our Democracy.

This is a family friendly event. Costumes with circus (and democracy) themes encouraged!
