ERA DAY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GA NOW and The Susan Jolley Foundation Host ERA Day in Recognition of International Women’s Day

Atlanta, GA — GA NOW and The Susan Jolley Foundation (TSJF) are proud to host ERA Day, a powerful day of advocacy, education, and action advancing equality for women and girls across Georgia and beyond. Held in alignment with International Women’s Day, ERA Day underscores the urgent call to fully realize constitutional equality through the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA).

International Women’s Day is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It is also a call to action — a reminder that gender equality remains unfinished business. ERA Day builds on that momentum by focusing specifically on the constitutional guarantee of equal rights under the law, regardless of sex.

The Equal Rights Amendment affirms that equality of rights shall not be denied or abridged on account of sex. While 38 states have ratified the ERA, advocates continue to push for its full recognition and implementation to ensure permanent constitutional protections for women and marginalized genders. ERA Day brings together faith leaders, healthcare advocates, legislators, community members, and grassroots organizers to educate the public about why constitutional equality matters in everyday life — from equal pay and workplace protections to healthcare access and freedom from violence.

For The Susan Jolley Foundation, ERA Day is deeply connected to its mission of preventing unnecessary deaths from cervical cancer and advancing health equity. “Equality is not just a political issue — it is a healthcare issue,” said leadership from TSJF. “When women lack equal protections, they often lack equal access to lifesaving care, screenings, and prevention resources. Constitutional equality strengthens every fight we are in — from HPV prevention to Medicaid expansion.”

GA NOW, as the Georgia chapter of the National Organization for Women, continues to lead advocacy efforts across the state to ensure that women’s rights are protected, expanded, and enforced. ERA Day serves as a reminder that equality must be codified, not conditional.

The event will feature speakers, community partners, and calls to legislative engagement, empowering participants to move from awareness to action. Together, GA NOW and The Susan Jolley Foundation are uniting constitutional equality with public health advocacy, demonstrating that when women are protected under the Constitution, communities are stronger, healthier, and more just.

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, ERA Day stands as both a celebration and a commitment — honoring the progress made and boldly declaring that equality under the law must be guaranteed for every woman and girl.
