FAYETTEVILLE NC Free America Walkout

On Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 2:00 pm, we are asking you to join the Free America Walkout. Step away from whatever place you are in at that time. If you can, gather at the Fayetteville Arts Council at the corner of Maxwell and Hay Street to meet others who believe in democracy, dignity, and freedom for all.

One year into a second Trump administration, our communities are facing an escalating authoritarian threat: raids on our neighborhoods, militarized policing, attacks on immigrants, families torn apart, expanded surveillance, and fear used as a tool to silence dissent. These are not isolated incidents — they are warning signs.

2025 was a year of marches that demonstrated our collective strength. But as the threats grow, our movement must evolve. Showing up is no longer enough. We must be willing to disrupt the routines that allow injustice to continue uninterrupted.

On January 20, we call on our communities to organize teams, contact neighbors and classmates, and walk out together. Host mutual aid planning meetings. Organize public service. But at 2:00 pm, step away — to interrupt business as usual and make the stakes visible.

This is a protest and a promise.
In the face of authoritarianism, we refuse to comply quietly.
