Frederick, MD - Free America Walkout

2025 was a year of marches that showed our collective strength.

On January 20 (the first anniversary of the start of Trump's second regime), Women's March and Free America are calling on our communities to organize teams, call your neighbors and classmates, and turn your back and walk out on fascism. 

Join us on Tuesday, January 20, for a peaceful protest with a few remarks, then we'll head to Market Street for sign-waving. While our event focuses on women, we welcome all who stand for justice to join us in solidarity with thousands walking out across the nation. Our speakers will share empowering yet realistic remarks on women-engaged activism in these tumultuous, fascist-leaning times.

Our bodies, our families, our labor, our futures, our beloved communities. An America that includes and belongs to everyone will not happen by accident. We will build it, one march, one voice, one act of courage at a time. When women organize, we change history. The question is not whether we can. The question is: Will you?

UPDATE: Because of the extreme cold, we plan to shorten our event a bit. Please dress warmly. 

We are collecting feminine and other hygiene products to distribute to various organizations. Please bring items in support of this drive if you are able.

Note: We recognize that not everyone will be able to walk out and join us. If that's you, that's okay! We don't want you to jeopardize your work or create issues. Here's how you can participate: 1) Take a pause or a short break where you are if you're able, 2) Share this event with others, or 3) simply think about us at 4 PM (or all of these options!)

A core principle of our events is a commitment to nonviolent action and avoiding civil disobedience. We expect all participants to de-escalate potential confrontations and act lawfully. Weapons of any kind, even if legally permitted, should not be brought. All events should be held in public spaces or on public property.
