Glenview IL • Free America Walkout

Update: It will be very cold on Tuesday. We'll still meet at the Veteran's Memorial at noon and walk to in front of the library. Bundle up!   If it is too cold and you'd rather just write postcards, show up at about 12:30 at the Glenview library.  We'll hand out postcards and addresses and you can write in the library (where it is warm!).  We're writing for Postcards to Swing States.  

It is time for Glenview to join with other communities to voice our concerns about how the administration is moving our democracy deeper into fascism.  One year into Trump’s second regime, our country faces an escalating fascist threat: raids on our communities, troops occupying our cities, attacks on immigrants, families torn apart, mass surveillance, and terror used to keep us silent.  The recent killing in Minneapolis, with no accountability by Homeland Security or ICE, makes this moment even more important. 

The public is invited to join this local protest and march.  The event starts at noon at the Veteran Memorial in downtown Glenview and the group will march to the corner of GV and Lehigh Avenue and protest. Bring a sign,  passion, and a friend or two.  If someone cannot join the event in person, they are encouraged to walk out wherever they are -- work, school, or home -- and make a statement against fascism.
