Celebrate the ERA - Women Included in the US Constitution!!! 03/08/25

EXCITING UPDATE!!! Mayor Levar Stoney, who is running for Lt. Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, is our guest speaker! Our group first met Mayor Stoney at the Overnight Vigil for the ERA in front of the Capitol in Richmond in 2020, before our ratification. The Mayor arrived in the middle of the night to show his support and to see if we needed anything. Mayor Stoney is definitely a He 4 Shes 🙂. Jessica Anderson, running for Virginia House of Delegates in the 71st District and always supportive of Women's Issues and the ERA, is also speaking. We are co-hosting this event with Indivisible Essex 🙂

After 102 years, it is time to CLAIM THE E.R.A. and inform the American public of this news!!! At 2pm on March 8th, International Women's Day, bring your celebratory signs to the Williamsburg James City County Courthouse, located at 5201 Monticello Avenue. As we sway to great music, we will shout to the rooftops that American Women are finally included in the US Constitution in the 28th Amendment. Thank you President Biden!!!

DONATIONS TO AVALON Collecting donations for our local Women’s Shelter Avalon, was so successful at our People’s March in January, we have decided to do it again for this event!!! If you can, please help bring needed supplies to our sisters. Here is the link to their page: https://avaloncenter.org/In-kind-Gifts Cleaning supplies are still really needed in this flu season - Clorox wipes and paper towels, but also Kleenex, toilet tissue, etc...

As with our previous events, the same rules apply. We will not engage with counter-protesters. If an issue arises, please notify one of the event organizers, who will be wearing Williamsburg JCC Indivisible t-shirts. We will not engage in any acts of violence or violation of any applicable laws or engage in civil disobedience. All actions will be peaceful. Everyone participating in this event will be required to behave lawfully to ensure the safety of event participants and will seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values. We will obey the orders of authorized event marshals and law enforcement authorities. Event organizers will not be responsible for any injury or damage if any were to occur during this event. We will park in the Courthouse parking lot without blocking access lanes and will remove any trash that is left. We are committed to maintaining public health measures to practice safe protesting during these times. Please wear a mask and socially distance if that makes you more comfortable - weigh your own risk in attending. Follow all local safety guidelines at minimum, and any safety instructions from hosts that exceed local law.
