Women's Equality Day: Advocating for Justice and Equality
On March 8th we will gather to honor the relentless pursuit of justice and equality by women throughout history and protest Trump 's attempt to remove the contributions of women.
The 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote— was a monumental step toward gender equality. Yet, as we stand here in 2025, we recognize that the journey toward true equality is far from complete.
In recent months, our nation has witnessed a series of actions by President Donald Trump's administration that threaten to undermine the progress we've fought so hard to achieve. The proposed 8% budget cut to the Pentagon over the next five years, as reported by The Guardian, raises concerns about the potential impact on programs that support women in the military and defense sectors. Additionally, the significant layoffs at the IRS, with 6,700 staff expected to be dismissed, could disproportionately affect women employed in these roles and hinder services that many women rely upon.
Moreover, the administration's executive orders to cut federal benefits for undocumented immigrants not only marginalize vulnerable communities but also disregard the contributions of countless women who are integral to the fabric of our society. These actions reflect a broader pattern of policies that neglect the rights and well-being of women.
Our response to these challenges must be unwavering. We draw inspiration from the Women's March on Washington in 2017, where millions united globally to advocate for women's rights and social justice. That historic event demonstrated the power of collective action and set the stage for continued resistance against policies that threaten our freedoms.
On March 8th we must stand in solidarity with all women—transgender, cisgender, women of color, immigrants, LGBTQ+ individuals, and those with disabilities. Our diversity is our strength, and our unity is our power. We must continue to organize, to speak out, and to demand policies that uphold the dignity and rights of every woman.
Let us honor the legacy of those who came before us by recommitting ourselves to the fight for equality. Let us challenge any administration that seeks to roll back our rights. And let us envision a future where every woman has the opportunity to thrive, free from discrimination and oppression.
Together, we are a force for change. Together, we will achieve equality.
