The Red Lipstick Resistance International Women's Day March

A Woman's Day March to peacefully demonstrate our resistance to the eradication of all of the rights that are being taken away from many groups, including women!

We will dress in white to bring forth the spirit of other women's resistance groups like the Ladies in White of Cuba, the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo in Argentina, and many others.

We will wear Red Lipstick to further recall the energy of women in the U.S. and Europe who wore this as a symbol of resistance during World War II.  This was also used as a symbol of the suffragette movement.

We will march peacefully on the planned route, while holding white and red signs with whatever message we each feel called to proclaim.

Consider, what is the issue that most speaks to you right now?  And how as a *woman, might you use your voice and strength to bring it forward?  Keep reading for more details.

A NOTE TO MEN:  We are all in this together and we invite and welcome you to march alongside us.   Red lipstick is optional :). but please do wear white!

DAY/ TIME: Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 10:00 am [we will leave meeting site by 10:30]

ROUTE:
We will march from the green space at the Coral Gables Congregational Church [corner of Desoto Blvd and Malaga], down Desoto Blvd [past Desoto Fountain, the Venetian Pool], onto Andalusia, then Biltmore Way [past Coral Gables City Hall, the Farmers Market], and down Miracle Mile to Douglas Road.  Once on Douglas, we will cross the street and go up on the other side of Miracle Mile to return to the meeting point. The route is 3.2 miles long so if there are elders or any with disabilities, for their wellness and safety, please plan accordingly.
PARKING:  Thanks to Pastor Laurie at CGCC who did not hesitate to approve us, and to Genevieve Savain who was so instrumental in making this happen, we can use the green space to park and meet. SPACE IS LIMITED so please UBER, carpool, etc! Park conscientiously to allow room for others please. If anyone wants to volunteer to help organize the parking, please let me know!  WE NEED YOU!

NOTE:  PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE CHURCH PARKING LOT AS THEY HAE EVENTS AND MEETINGS AND WERE SO KIND TO GRANT USE OF SPACE WHEN OTHER WOULD NOT

MEDIA:  Some have asked if we will have media coverage.  If you have any contacts and would like to share our plans, please do so!

One last thing.  Remember that WE DO HAVE POWER.

We outnumber politicians who won't change anything and if we continue to show up at Town Halls, our legislators' offices, marches, protests, etc, we will show our strength by our numbers, and by our fervent opposition to the denial of our rights.   If you look at our history, it is people like us who have held the power to change the things in society that politicians wouldn't.

WE HAVE OUR BELIEFS AND OUR CONVICTIONS IN A BETTER AND JUST WORLD.

WE HAVE OUR VOICES AND WE WILL USE THESE FOR WHAT IS RIGHT.

FINALLY, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, WE HAVE EACH OTHER.

FOR I TRULY AM MY BROTHER'S AND SISTER'S KEEPER!

AREN'T YOU?

See you Saturday, my beautiful sisters and brothers!
