KICK OUT THE CLOWNS Teach-in & Satirical Parade (Albuquerque, NM)
Elect a clown? Expect a circus!
Friday, June 13th, join us at Roosevelt Park for an anti-Trump, community-led teach-in and satirical parade.
June 13th happens to be the 54th anniversary of a rebellion against police brutality that famously took place in Roosevelt Park on June 13, 1971. It goes that, “a young Chicano man was reportedly arrested for selling a joint to an undercover narcotics agent. As the situation escalated the Black Berets, a Chicano community organization, were called in.
The Berets tried to move people out of the park and speak with police, but were fired upon. This blew up into a riot fueled by decades of racism and police abuse against Albuquerque’s Chicano community. Eventually, the National Guard was brought in.”
…The National Guard is once again being brought in to occupy our streets and neighborhoods. As Trump prepares his own dictator-style military parade, we the people of New Mexico, are here to remind this administration that we stand united against tyranny, fascism, and racism.
