Love Bank at Kruger Pines

A neighbor-led Mutual Aid gathering rooted in dignity, care, and human connection

Love Bank at Kruger Pines is a relaxed, neighbor-to-neighbor gathering centered on Mutual Aid — the simple, human practice of paying attention to what people actually need, and helping one another meet those needs directly.

At its core, Mutual Aid is not complicated. It’s not charity, and it’s not a program.
It’s people being curious about one another — and then acting.

This gathering invites people who may be new to Mutual Aid to experience it in the most straightforward way possible:

Show up

Listen

Stop at the ATM if you’re able

Share resources directly with seniors

Trust that together, we’ll figure out what’s needed and take care of one another

No applications. No intermediaries. No hoops.

This gathering is part of our ongoing No Kings Marin series, which explores how communities can strengthen democracy between elections — not through slogans, but through relationships, trust, and shared responsibility, especially with seniors and neighbors who are too often overlooked.

A Living Legacy of Mutual Aid

This work also honors the legacy of my uncle, Father Maurice Chase, known to many as “Father Dollar Bill.” For decades on Skid Row in Los Angeles, he practiced Mutual Aid before most people had a name for it — giving cash directly to people with one simple belief:

If someone needs help, you help them — now, and without judgment.

That spirit lives on in Love Bank. It’s not about control or fixing people. It’s about dignity, autonomy, and meeting real needs in real time.

---

Our December gathering brought neighbors together to listen and learn directly from residents at Kruger Pines. January and February continue that process — turning listening into practical Mutual Aid, one relationship at a time.

After we show up publicly for our values, we believe it’s just as important to show up personally for one another.

This is not a rally, training, or formal meeting.
There is no expectation to join anything or commit to anything.
Just come as you are — curious, open, and willing to take care of each other.

We’ll briefly share:

What we learned from our first listening gathering

How Love Bank and Adopt-A-Senior are working in practice

How Mutual Aid shows up in small, ordinary actions that actually matter

Then we’ll leave plenty of space for conversation and connection.

💛 Optional Cash Contribution — Mutual Aid in Action

If you’re able and willing, you may bring a cash contribution.

The process is intentionally simple:

Stop at the ATM

Pool resources with neighbors

Respond directly to needs identified by seniors — transportation, groceries, medications, or everyday gaps

No gift cards.
No agencies.
No overhead.

Just people helping people — and figuring it out together.

Completely optional.
