The MAGA regime is unleashing modern day slave patrols on our communities, terrorizing Black, brown, and immigrant communities from Minneapolis and Memphis to LA and DC to Chicago and Charlotte. Now they are threatening to escalate attacks on New York City.
Enough is enough. ICE’s murders of Renee Nicole Good and a growing list of Americans shows how white supremacy threatens us all. It’s time to rise up and refuse to comply with this injustice. On Friday, January 23rd, we’re walking out of school to free NYC and free America from Trump-Crow.
First, they threatened our schools to erase our history & deny scholarships to Black & brown students. Now they’ve legalized racial profiling & are sending ICE to patrol and attack racially profile our neighborhoods and even violently attack our homes and classrooms with impunity - just like the slave catchers of our past. This regime is trying to drag us back to the 1800s. What we fail to repair, we repeat.
Our ancestors showed us time and again that we can prevail when we, the people, stand up and refuse to comply. Students in DC showed us what it means to stand with and for each other with their mass walkouts earlier this year, while Charlotte student walkouts literally chased ICE occupiers out of their city.
That’s why NYC students at colleges and high schools are planning a citywide walkout on Jan 23rd, the same day that Minneapolis is holding a general strike, in an act of joyful defiance and solidarity.
It’s time for us to take up the baton and demand a free NYC and a free America: free from slave patrols 2.0 and free from white supremacy. Only by making our country fully reckon with and repair the harm of white supremacy from its foundation will we create a truly free and equal future.
