Oak Park, Illinois Brookdale Senior Residence Free America Walkout

One year into Trump’s second regime, we face an escalating fascist threat: raids on our communities, troops occupying our cities, attacks on immigrants, families torn apart, mass surveillance, and terror used to keep us silent.  It is time for our communities to escalate as well. 

Our senior residence has 180 apartments with 208 residents, many in wheelchairs and walkers needing assistance. Our average age is 86. But on January 20, 2026, at 2:00pm, we plan to meet in the lobby and as many of us who can proceed out our front entrance to protest on the street, shouting against the fascist actions of the Trump administration. Hopefully our 15–30-minute demonstration will gain some local support and show how we seniors feel about what Trump, Vance and the rest of his cronies are doing to our nation which so many of us worked so hard to support for so many years.
