People's March Akron, Ohio

Please note that as we do not have a permit, we only are protected by remaining on public property such as the sidewalk, having no signage that is inciting or violent, and not impede anyone's path.

I have spoken with the city of Akron and they are aware of our plan to have a peaceful sign holding event on the corner. They have my information and will relay information to Akron public safety forces so they are aware should anyone call in about us being out there. They have assured me that as long as we stay within our protected rights per law that we do not require a per.it and they are fine with it.

You can find your rights here:

If anyone has any other questions please feel free to email me. I will be sending out a group email to all attendees closer to the 18th.

Can't wait but wish we didn't need to keep doing this. Thank you all for your voices!

If anyone wishes to help with chants etc that is welcome. I'm just not good at starting those things.

*This is for those of us who wish to stand in solidarity with those marching in Washington DC. Since there hasn't been an event started for this area, I am organizing a sign holding event at the corner of East Market and High in Akron. We will remain on the corner and sidewalk as we do not have a permit. Please come with your signs and voices. If anyone would like to take more of a leader role that is welcome, I'm just trying to get people gathered to show that we are not going back - and we will definitely be making noise about the current situation.*

We all march for different reasons, but we march for the same cause: to defend our rights and our future.

If you believe that decisions about your body should remain yours, that books belong in libraries, not on bonfires, that healthcare is a right, not a privilege for the wealthy; if you believe in the power of free speech and protest to sustain democracy; or if you want an economy that works for the people who power it—then this march is for you.

The People’s March is about one thing: our power.

It’s a bold demonstration of the resilience of resistance:

  • We march to unite the people who’ve been the backbone of resistance for generations—and to welcome even more
  • We march to remind civil servants they answer to us
  • We march to inspire, energize, and drive change long after the day is done.

This is our moment to remind Washington elites — and Americans everywhere — where the power truly lives: with the people.

Let’s make it count.
