They came in the middle of the night. They took blankets from an elder. And they called it justice.
We’re not staying silent.

Join us for a powerful, women-led public event at 298 Shoreline Highway, the very home where a Marin County Seniors for Peace member was evicted in the dead of night by sheriff’s deputies — and had their only warmth, a blanket, taken during the eviction.
This event is sponsored by the Women’s March and hosted by the Chase Housing Initiative Advocacy Program. We are calling on women from across California and the nation to gather in Mill Valley and defend our elders from police cruelty and indifference.
We will:
- Review body camera footage from the deputies involved in the eviction
- Give the Marin County Sheriff’s Department the opportunity to publicly explain their policies on night raids and blanket confiscation
- Hear from members of Marin County Seniors for Peace, local advocates, and faith leaders
- Launch a petition to end inhumane eviction practices and demand legislation to protect unhoused and aging residents from abuse
- Hold space for healing, storytelling, and collective action
