Recitation of the New Colossus at the United States Supreme Court

Wisconsin Attorney Eric Finch will give brief remarks culminating in a recitation of the New Colossus, the poem by Emma Lazarus that is engraved within the base of the Statue of Liberty.

Remarks will begin shortly after 9 am and the program will conclude by or before 10 am.

This poem serves as an important reminder of our foundational principles. While the poem was not written until 1883, over 100 years after our independence, it serves as a vital reminder our nation's spirit when it comes to immigration. It is a constant reminder of our status as a beacon of freedom throughout the world - a reminder that the United States Supreme Court should reflect upon.

While there will be other larger events planned throughout DC during the day, this early morning event will serve as a brief opportunity for reflection on our long-standing American traditions that are currently at risk of being forgotten.
