SARASOTA Free America Walkout: Walk Into the School Board

On Tuesday, January 20, Sarasota is being called to escalate.

One year into Trump’s second regime, we are facing an accelerating fascist threat, with raids on our communities, families torn apart, mass surveillance, criminalization of immigrants, and the use of fear to keep people silent.

And now, that threat is coming directly into our schools.

The Sarasota County School Board is considering a resolution that would expand cooperation with ICE inside public schools, bringing state-sponsored violence into spaces meant for learning, safety, and care.

This is unacceptable.

Schools must be places of trust, not fear. Learning, not enforcement. Protection, not punishment. Expanding ICE’s role in our school district risks:

Instead of expanding ICE’s involvement, we should be eliminating immigration enforcement from schools and local communities altogether.  That is why this action is part of the Free America Walkout.

On January 20, we are calling on everyone in Sarasota to:

This is how we block the normal routines of power.
This is how we make the stakes real.
This is a protest and a promise.

We need bodies in the room. We need voices on the record. Silence will be taken as consent.
