Sonya Massey Community Healing Space & Altar Build

Reale Justice Network is hosting a community healing space, memorial and alter build in honor of Sonya Massey.
We are joining our comrades across the country in uplifting the life and legacy of Sonya Massey and calling for an end to the senseless violence inflicted on Black people everywhere.
Black communities across the country and right here in Kansas City, has carried a legacy of trauma created by the ways in which gender violence and police brutality have harmed us.
This legacy of terror exist today as evidenced by the countless police killings of Black people across the country.
Sonya Massey called the police for help, but she got harm.
She deserved to be treated with dignity and respect, yet she was made to feel afraid and terrified in her own home by the people who were supposed to protect her.
She deserved to be treated with dignity and respect, yet she was made to feel afraid and terrified in her own home by the people who were supposed to protect her.
We are coming together to be intentional about the healing and care that our communities need and deserve.
We will take our space to gather, mourn, reflect, honor and be in community with each other.
If you're able, please bring items to help build a memorial site and altar.
We are looking forward to being in community.
