TU LUCHA ES MI LUCHA - FORWARD EVER, BACKWARDS NEVER

San Antonio's 35th International Women's Day March and Rally!!

San Antonio has a long history of celebrating International Women's Day. This year is our 35th consecutive march and 40 years since this radical tradition began in the city.  Our theme this year is "Tu Lucha Es Mi Lucha - Forward Ever, Backwards Never." It represents solidarity from the local to the international, as we all are facing the intensification of fascism in our society and into our daily lives.

More and more, we are identifying our importance as the people, the masses, the ones who make this city, state, nation and world run. But at the same time, we see that our labor is not enough to guarantee our rights. We struggle to make ends meet. Our so-called democracy has revealed itself as a lose-lose, with the two dominant parties shifting ever to the right.

Palestine is still suffering a genocide, as the war
expands to Lebanon, Syria and threatens the entire
West Asia region. Our tax dollars are spent by the trillions each year on wars violating the sovereignty of other countries and causing havoc on our planet. All of this prioritizing death and destruction over the uplift of the people. Locally, our tax dollars are wasted on sports stadiums for teams owned by millionaires and billionaires (Graham Weston of Weston Urban and Peter Holt, Spurs owner and CEO of BDS listed Caterpillar). The rich prefer to spend our money instead of their own wealth, precisely because they have our city leaders in their pocket, especially the unelected City Manager's Office. These expensive projects prioritize sports stadiums over solving the housing crisis, ensuring all of our children have food, keeping our water and lights on. In Texas, we are denied access to abortions, while our immigrant families and LGBTQ and Trans siblings are demonized and attacked! All of this while defunding and degrading our public institutions, turning them over to the highest bidders. But, we must not despair! We have fought and won before and we must again claim what is ours!

This IWD we stand united saying, "Your struggle is my struggle!" We need each other, we need a unity capable to unleash the power, the anger, and indeed, the love that we working class and oppressed people have. Historically, our unity in struggle is what has raised our consciousness and sparked building collectively rather than individually - even igniting revolutions. We must make IWD every day, as our struggle does not end until our people win!

This is a rally cry for you to save the date and be there March 8th - rain, snow or shine. March with us, taking our public streets, through our public parks and demonstrating our collective power to make San Antonio a city for the people once and for all - united against rapacious war and imperialism, callous displacement and gentrification and standing up for peace and prosperity for our people everywhere!

*This is an intersectional feminist march. All are welcome to be heard, seen and represented.🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈
