Wheeler, IN - Free America Singalong

Singalong pavilion
Singalong with some wicked pitches on Friday 9am-10:30am at the pavilion in the big community field outside the Fifth Street Club (old Wheeler High School).

Not affiliated with the club, just a landmark to locate the event at the community pavilion off 6th St & North St.

Feel free to park in the lot and walk NW to the big field!

Bring a sign or your favorite protest song to share!  Bring a snack if you like, and your own chair if you don’t want to sit at the wooden picnic tables. Bring your water bottle to stay hydrated while we sing.

CELEBRATE FREEDOM. IGNITE YOUR REBELLION

Independence Day is about the fight for freedom. The American Revolution was a stand against tyranny and kings. That same spirit has lived on—from the Boston Tea Party to the Underground Railroad, from Stonewall to the Civil Rights Movement.

This is not your patriotic singalong. We will share how we really feel by lifting our voices in joyful cathartic rebellion.
America is in crisis. Real democracy feels out of reach. Freedom is in trouble.

This July 4th weekend, while the U.S. marks Independence Day, we’ll gather across the country—on porches, in town squares, backyards, and streets—to stand for real freedom and build a vision of a Free America brick by brick.

Free America is wherever we are. Free America is whatever we make it.

THIS IS YOUR INVITATION TO TAKE IT BACK.

We invite communities to create their own Free America events—rallies, marches, block parties, banner drops, street parades, art builds, backyard BBQs, dance protests, and more.

Your freedom. Your people. Your rebellion.

From cities to suburbs to small towns, we’ll gather however and wherever we can! Here are some options:

  • Host a block party to Free America! This is your chance to invite everyone who isn’t gonna come to a protest to dream about freedom with hot dogs and veggie burgers.
  • Take the streets in a local march or public protest.
  • Build community altars, murals, and posters about your vision for a Free America.
  • Occupy space joyfully—with dancing, costumes, music, food, and conversation.
  • Host community-based mutual aid fairs and meet-ups.

They want us scared, divided, and alone. They don’t want us to dream about freedom. But that’s exactly what we have to do.

This Fourth of July, we will be in the streets with songs of freedom and joy. The dream of American freedom belongs to all of us, and we will not stop in our pursuit of its promise, now or ever.
