Williamsburg - Southeastern Virginia: Women's March Rally for June 24 National Day of Action

ONE YEAR AFTER ROE vs. WADE WAS OVERTURNED, THIS COUNTRY IS IN A STATE OF EMERGENCY!!!

All across this nation, the "good ol' boys" are doing whatever they can to consolidate their power, control our bodies, and silence our voices. Judges are blatantly disregarding the law, science, and the limits of their own authority to dismantle our right to access abortion care. Legislators are going beyond gerrymandering and voter suppression to stripping democratically elected officials of their authority and criminalizing our right to protest.

And let us not forget that after Virginia became the necessary 38th State to ratify the 28th Amendment in 2020, the ERA, Trump stopped its publication and the Senate, thanks to the Maga Republicans, voted it down again on April 27, 2023.

So on June 24, we will mobilize at 5pm at the Williamsburg James City County Courthouse, located at 5201 Monticello Avenue, Williamsburg, Virginia, 23188, to let the world know that we’re still fighting. Bring your signs and enthusiasm as we say, we won’t go back, we are STILL the resistance. After the speeches we can Rally or March!

We will be joined by our speakers Retired Colonel Herb Jones, Candidate for Congress in VACD01, Pamela Garner, Candidate for State Senate, District 26, Dalila Johnson, Candidate for Supervisor in York County, District 2, and Rabbi Ellen Jaffe-Gill.

We will not become bystanders while the most vulnerable among us are targeted by the most powerful.
This struggle is bigger than Roe.
We are not done fighting. And together, we will win.

As with our previous events, the same rules apply. We will not engage with counter-protesters. If an issue arises, please notify one of the event organizers, who will be wearing Williamsburg JCC Indivisible t-shirts. We will not engage in any acts of violence or violation of any applicable laws or engage in civil disobedience. All actions will be peaceful. Everyone participating in this event will be required to behave lawfully to ensure the safety of event participants and will seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values. We will obey the orders of authorized event marshals and law enforcement authorities. Event organizers will not be responsible for any injury or damage if any were to occur during this event. We will park in the Courthouse parking lot without blocking access lanes and will remove any trash that is left.
