Women go on Strike in Indiana with Women4Change
Women4Change and women in Indiana are going on strike, June 24th, 2024 with thousands of our sisters across the United States.
Why are we going on strike?
In acknowledgement of the 2nd anniversary of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, we are removing ourselves for 1 day en masse.
What is a strike?
No spending. No work. No school.
But what does a strike look like in YOUR life? What kinds of things must YOU do at home, at work, and in your own lives to make your invisible labor, visible? What happens if you just stop work in your life?
Do your kids have care? If not, who cares for them?
Will you lose your job if you don't show up for work in a state like Indiana, with very few worker protections? Do you have to take PTO?
Do YOU have to spend money ahead of time to opt-out of your invisible and day to day responsibilities?
Who keeps the plates spinning if you aren't?
We want Hoosier women to answer these questions and document what a strike looks like in their everyday lives, because we know it isn't easy and downright impossible for many women to stop work for a day.
We urge you to do it anyway.
Share your story with us and we will amplify it. Share it here and/or on social media with @women4change on Facebook, Instagram, and X platforms with the hashtag #womenstrikein2024
Tell us:
Why are you striking and what does that look like in your life?
We'll say it again:
Hoosier women show up for Indiana, every day, even when it has stopped showing up for us.
