FIRST WE RALLY/MARCH, THEN WE SERVE!!!
On Saturday, January 18th at 2pm at the Williamsburg James City County Courthouse, located at 5201 Monticello Avenue, Williamsburg, Williamsburg JCC Indivisible and our co-host Indivisible Essex, will begin with an Open Forum Rally. Unlike our previous Rallies/Marches with speakers, this event will be open for ALLIES to come together in a safe environment to share their feelings and their thoughts of where we go next. With this being an organic experience, please allow enough time for all who wish to speak, the time to speak.
After the Rally, those who wish to march will march. Marching is not required - we have 6 chairs for those who want to be seated.🙂
We have signs (@80 to borrow) and a cooler of water and hot cider and hand warmers - first come, first served.
We understand emotions are running high, but this will be a peaceful event!
We are past the point of people sitting back and not becoming engaged. Fascism has taken hold in other countries when people became silent and compliant. The only way to stop fascism is to speak up and fight for our Democracy!!!

- The People’s March is about one thing: OUR POWER!
We all march for different reasons, but we march for the same cause: to defend our rights and our future.
If you believe that decisions about your body should remain yours, that books belong in libraries, not on bonfires, that healthcare is a right, not a privilege for the wealthy; if you believe in the power of free speech and protest to sustain democracy; or if you want an economy that works for the people who power it—then this march is for you.
It’s a bold demonstration of the resilience of resistance.
We are worth fighting for. Our families and futures are worth fighting for. We may have dark days ahead, but we will always work to protect our freedoms, our families, and our communities. We deserve a brighter future and we will continue to work for it.
Together, we KEEP MARCHING.
Together, we KEEP MARCHING.
After our Rally/March, we will SERVE!!!
During this Inauguration Weekend, leading up to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, Day on January 20th, Indivisible groups across the country will unite together for "Help Over Hate: MLK Weekend of Service" with the goal of uplifting our communities and honouring Dr. King’s legacy. "These activities are not just about service—they’re about showing that our communities are resilient, united, and unwilling to back down in the face of hate and division... Each act of service, no matter how small, is a declaration of hope and a commitment to the fight ahead of us. Together, we’ll show that regardless of if you live in a red, blue, or purple state, we won’t give up or give in... While MAGA Republicans push their hateful, divisive agenda, we’ll demonstrate the power of compassion and action. This weekend is an opportunity to highlight the difference between their extremism and our vision for a democracy that works for all of us." Indivisible.
***We have chosen as our action to support the Women's Shelter AVALON in Williamsburg, by bringing needed supplies to our Sisters. Cleaning supplies are really needed in this flu season - Clorox wipes and paper towels, but also Kleenex, toilet tissue, etc... Here is the link to their page: https://avaloncenter.org/In-kind-Gifts *** We will be collecting donations at this event.
